Why We Do This
A Company Built
to Create Opportunity.

Custom Weatherization was built on a simple idea: skilled work should create real futures, not just a job.

Since 2006, we’ve built our company to take people with drive and turn them into skilled tradesmen through real field training, certifications, and high standards.

This isn’t just a job. It’s a path to a stable, long term career in one of Pennsylvania’s most essential trades.

"This company was built to give people a real shot in the trades."

Real Pennsylvania Homes

Most of the work you do is in real homes enrolled in state or utility weatherization programs. You see the impact the same day you create it.

🔬

Diagnostic-Driven Craft

Blower door testing, combustion analysis and thermal imaging. This isn’t guesswork. You think like an engineer and work like a skilled tradesperson.

📈

Program-Backed Stability

We operate under multiple state and local utility programs. This creates consistent, year-round work instead of chasing seasonal jobs.

🤝

Certified Mentors on Site

Every Crew Chief is BPI and RRP certified. You train side-by-side in the field with experienced leaders, in attics and on ladders, not behind a desk.

The Career Path

Four Stages.
One Career.

The path is the same for both starting points. Experienced tradespeople simply begin further along. Every stage is a real milestone, with defined skills, field hours, and credentials earned at each level.

About the 65-Week Apprenticeship: This is cumulative, built week by week through in-house Custom Weatherization training sessions, field hours on real jobs, and formal certification coursework. You earn it while you work and get paid. No gaps, no unpaid breaks.

Entry-Level Helper Path A only
Months 1–3

You start with no experience. That’s expected. Your job is to learn how the truck is loaded, how a job site runs, and what the work looks like in practice. You train side-by-side with experienced crew members from day one, learning by working on real homes.

Months 3–12 · Formal Training Begins

Structured training begins alongside daily field work. You learn blower door operation, air sealing systems, and insulation techniques, then apply those skills on real homes the same week. Experienced tradespeople entering here move faster through the process based on their experience.

Who We're Looking For

We Don't Hire Résumés.
We Hire Character.

🔥

Driven & Self-Motivated

You show up wanting to get better. Progress matters to you personally, not just professionally. You don't need to be pushed.

🧠

A Natural Problem-Solver

Weatherization is detective work. You enjoy figuring out why a house is cold or a bill is high, then fixing the root cause.

🤝

A Real Team Player

No egos. Crew work runs on communication and trust. You show up for your team the same way you expect them to show up for you.

📚

Committed to Learning

The BPI exam doesn't pass itself. Coursework takes effort. You take your development seriously because you know the payoff is real.

Reliable & Accountable

Homeowners count on us. Your crew counts on you. Showing up on time and doing what you said is the foundation of this trade.

🌱

Community-Minded

You'll work in people's homes, in your own neighborhoods. If leaving something better behind matters to you, this work gives you that every day.
